Triarco 2014 Art Contest
Students in Jr. High art recently completed artwork for the Triarco 2014 Art Contest. The theme for this year is "Are You Listening?", People are talking about the importance of art in education. Each semester we have a contour hands project where students learn about line, value, texture and contour drawing. This semester I changed it up a bit by adding in portrait drawing as well as incorporating a message in their artwork. At first students seemed intimidated by the delicate lines and textures. As the project progressed, they relaxed and began to doodle and draw their own textures and patterns. When they began to add color, they became more even more excited about their drawings. The artworks are complete and were mailed off at the end of March.
I am excited to announce that Isabel's poster was chosen for an award! Over 2400 students from across the U.S. entered this contest. Congratulations!
